The Laz House

Location: Tsikhisdziri, Adjara, Georgia

Year: 2025

Status: Ongoing

The project is located on the Black Sea coast, in the village of Tsikhisdziri. It is a guest house—traditionally known as a Meidan Oda—situated on the grounds of an existing villa.

The structure combines a reinforced concrete foundation with a timber frame, wrapped in a wooden grid that reinterprets traditional Laz houses still found in the region. The concrete core acts as the spine of the building, while the timber structure frames all the functional spaces.

Positioned on a slope and nestled within a subtropical forest, the house overlooks the Black Sea. The program is divided into a semi-open summer space and an enclosed living room, separated by the entrance, which dramatically frames the sea view upon arrival.
